the most stimulating conversations are the ones that do not require an open mouth. an open heart is all that is needed to send and receive messages. it happens with the people we love, our best friends, those closest to us, and even strangers sometimes. we talk without saying a word, and more importantly, we listen to that which arises out of silence. this is a sign of divine communication.
A new opportunity for us to shine in the public eye has presented itself. This isn’t just any old opportunity though, this is karmic, and this is a major moment that we will look back on as a turning point or a big break in regards to career. The momentousness keeps us perpetually excited, if not a bit high-strung. The key is to make the most of this energy by visualizing the big picture and working toward its actualization. The target for which we are aiming this week will have a long-term effect, so it is important that we have a solid objective upon which to build, as well as the expansiveness to shoot for the stars.
last week i ordered 3 astrology books, and one by one they were all delivered. the first one i received was Asteroid Goddesses by Demetra George. it expounds upon the mythology of the 4 main asteroid goddesses [Ceres, Pallas Athene, Vesta, and Juno], how their respective discoveries correlated with collective awakening of different aspects of the divine feminine, and the importance of their astrological incorporation.
it is intriguing how each asteroid goddess springs forth from the moon’s matrix of the feminine potential, as well as the physically active manifestation of alluring venus, who symbolizes and governs reproductive fertility, to represent a unique facet of feminine principle. the addition of these cosmic bodies to the natal chart adds an insightful dimension and fuller feminine influence that was merely suggested by the presence of the moon and venus, but never explored or specified in depth.
since i believe this is valuable information, i will share briefly what each asteroid goddess signifies…
ceres is the earth mother, regarded as a physical delineation of the moon’s nurturing instinct. ceres rules food, clothing, and general sustenance that provides nourishment necessary to keep the children, plants, and animals of the earth alive and well. ceres, goddess of fertility and agriculture, had a beautiful daughter persephone with whom she was inseparable. in ceres’ contentment, the planet was blessed with infinite prosperity and eternal springtime, although many suitors desperately desired to be with the persephone, who [in the grasp of her mother] was rendered impenetrable. one day fateful day, ceres’ precious daughter was abducted by pluto, god of the underworld. ceres, in the paralyzing throes of grief, refused to tend to the crops, thereby not only starving the people, but herself as well. alarmed that there would be no mortals left to worship them, almighty [and praise-hungry] zeus decided reluctantly to strike a deal with pluto so that both he and ceres would receive joint custody of persephone, which would indeed pacify (at least partially) both parties.
during the spring and summer months, ceres is reunited with her daughter and all is well, but when she returns to the underworld, we all experience ceres’ loss in the form of the lifeless winter. attachment, separation, sharing, and custody are ceres themes. to truly comprehend the change of seasons and cyclical nature of time, ancients would be initiated into the mysteries of ceres [life, death, and rebirth]. where we find ceres in the natal chart is the area in which we must foster growth in the most organic sense, but also learn the universal lesson of letting go. as goddess of the grain, our relationship to food [often tied intrinsically to self-esteem] is governed by ceres, so one might also look to ceres in astrology when dealing with malnourishment, emotional eating, and eating disorders in general. i meant to post this thing on monday, but sometimes it’s good to wait.
good news for those who have grown tired of holding their horses. mars, god of war and our astrological impulse to do something, resumed direct motion earlier this week. since march, mars has apparently been moving backward in an earthbound optical illusion we call a retrograde. the function of mars is inverted when it is retrograde so that instead of pursuing our conquests directly, we choose to reflect and deliberate and even take a step back to assess the best method of attack, perhaps as a result of self-doubt. there is no problem with thinking before we act, but when instincts are not honored as urgently as they arise, we risk missing out on the moment and remaining in a place of immobility. in the words of every madonna song (seriously, she’s lyrically impatient), “no hesitating!”
with mars retrograde in libra, the probability of us getting stuck on fences is exacerbated. mars rules aries, libra’s polar opposite sign, so mars in libra feels relatively uncomfortable expressing its passionately aggressive desires as our energy is focused on striking a pleasant balance with our peers. for the past few months, many of us have felt agitated by people we consider equals (lovers, friends, business partners, open enemies), and while disagreements have forced us to accost our issues other people, mars’ retrograde motion in addition to libra’s influence suggests a facade of niceness that has masked the outburst of the contemptuous feelings that have been smoldering just below the surface. in other words, because of retrograde mars’ debilitation in the sign of the scales, it is likely that passive aggression has won out over the direct expression of anger. ready to explode?
as evidenced in a variety of enduring magnum opuses, many people of many cultures and eras believe that we are all intrinsically connected. does that mean we should deny our unique experience and super special perspective? absolutely not! we must individuate ourselves (a strong “damn it” feels appropriate right here, yeah?). if we don’t leave our footprint on the surface of the earth, were we ever even alive? if the upside down sun isn’t shining, then there is nothing to see here folks! apathy, fatigue, and the depletion of life force energy in general signify either an unconscious blockage of self-expression or a wasteful expenditure of vital power that leaves us exhausted. how can we expect to create a signature by which to be remembered if we are not performing full out? life is no dress rehearsal.
some facet of our personality is being stifled whether or not we realize it. in order to continue the healthy development of the ego, we must shed light on the aspects of our being that have not yet been integrated. by acknowledging the entirety of who we are, we free ourselves to live fully in alignment with the whims of our creative will, which range from romantic to risky. whichever end of the spectrum our recreation takes us, it’s all in good fun. there is nobody else quite like us and if that doesn’t inspiration the extension of self, then leo is not the king of the jungle. even if we are not proud of everything we’ve experienced, we still have the authority to celebrate the totality of our existence for the sheer fact that there are no duplicates. way past one in a million is who we are.
if there is ever any uncertainty regarding the root of our self-consciousness and the obstruction of our eminent potential, our partnerships serve as a mirror if we choose to see ourselves in others. we attract those who are meant to refine us in some way, so sometimes it may feel as though we are in abrasive relationships. peaceful exchanges are preferred in the 7th house, but edgy interactions are indicative of the bits and pieces of our personhood that we must be conscious of in order to generate the amount of fuel necessary to sustain the animation that is playing out around us.
the world is a different place when you’re beautiful
life just doesn’t look the same
these aesthetic souls don’t have to explain, nor could they
today feels so calm for there to be a full moon. and it’s in scorpio! maybe it’s because i’m a scorpio? all i have felt all day is unbelievably sleepy.
also, today’s my last official day at the spa. they want to keep me on call, to come in if i feel like it when they need me, but i don’t know how that will turn out. i have such love for this place, but in my mind, i’m done. i did sign up for a 12 month membership, so i’m still there in many ways. endings are appropriate under the culmination of the transformative scorpio full moon.
i know someone out there is having a more intense experience than i am. then again, saturn isn’t too far off from luna’s illumination, so the dynamism is more still than usual. i see more quiet frustrations than over the top outbursts. even in the moments of aggravation, there are solutions to be found if we are aware of their existence. if it doesn’t work, we can either fix it, recycle it, or throw it away. it’s as clear as that. easy even.
if the thrill is gone and the hot pursuit to get it back in full effect. we have been teased with too close encounters that haven’t quite managed to make it off the ground, and i get the feeling we are craving the excitement of the real thing. rather than sitting and wait for the next big thing to make its presence known, we must take matters into our own hands and make it happen, no matter how dangerously impossible that mission may seem. mars is impulse and the subsequent response to such stimuli, so no matter what happened before or what we thought would happen in the future, it is best that we act urgently the present moment lest we allow a new experience to pass us by. there is no certainty in the initiation of a new endeavor, but there is fun to be had in the most suspenseful moments. anything can happen.
our desires are not satiated by a quick skim of the surface. the only thing that can quench our thirst is to dive furiously into the depths of that which captures our attention. we may not be able to see it, but our senses tell us that there is more juice to be squeezed underneath the sometimes deceptively dry facade. scorpio has a deep-seated desire to penetrate beyond the exterior to trespass the territory that is otherwise off-limits. the most succulent fruit is forbidden or hidden from plain sight, and it can not be fully enjoyed if any ounce of it is left unearthed. some of us have settled into a state of brittle inertia, waiting hopelessly for someone to bless us with an all access backstage pass, forgetting that we have the potential to exercise our own inner VIP at any given moment by using what we got to get what we want (and yes, that was a player’s club reference). it is important for us to know intimately who we are and what we have to offer by periodically plumbing our own shadow to bring the darkness to light, as this will only help us to perceive and pursue the adrenaline rush of possibilities that often arise in external world, which is what we need to do at the current moment in order to avoid the depression of inactivity.
excuses for inaction are invalidated by our proximity to dynamism. sparks don’t fly if nothing is plugged in, so it is in our best interest to stay actively connected to our community. no matter how we familiar we think we are with our network and the people within it, there is always some new source of stimulation to be stumbled upon, or so suggests the ever-inquisitive 3rd house. curiosity might have killed the cat, but it will elicit the very exhilaration for which we are pining. novelty is the key to inspiring the enthusiasm needed to jumpstart our engines.
