Major Arcana Tarot Correspondence: Death
Perhaps the most terrifying card in the deck, Death always elicits extreme reactions when it is pulled. For most people it calls to mind the end of life and the physical body’s inevitable decay, a rude reminder of immortality. When interpreted not-so-literally, however, Death is the truth of transformation and the never-ending cycles of evolution. Just as the snake sheds its skin and the feathers of the bird fly off into the wind, everyone must occasionally begin again. But in order for something to be reborn, it must first die. This is the end of an era.
Some say that energy never dies, though, so maybe this is more of a shift from one form to the next.
The New Moon is the monthly meeting of the Sun and the Moon in the same sign. This combination makes for a great potency that, when harnessed, encourages anything that is initiated or asked. The best time to set New Moon intentions is the following few days after the aspect is exact, once the dust has settled, but the day of is usually fine too. Warning: avoid setting intentions before the New Moon is exact and/or during the void-of-course moon. [See below for the best times to make your wish.]

Power, Intensity, Obsession, Paranoia, Horror, Sex, Near Death Experiences, Transformation, Secrets, Other People’s Money, Taxes, Inheritance, Debt, Joint Accounts, Bonds, Legacies
Scorpio season is characterized by intensity. Intense sensitivity, intense desires, intense bonds. Where previous sign Libra introduces us to the darkness in a balanced way, symbolized by the equal day and night of the autumn equinox, Scorpio plunges right in the deep dark. And of course it’s get darker the deeper we go. Scorpio is fascinated by extremes like this, therefore anything that is initiated right now will be a source of passion to say the least. This is best time for anyone who, after suffering dull inhibition of an overly-moderate life, is ready to wring all the juice out of this fruit we call life… and then drink it 🙂
Power is Scorpio’s buzzword, and it is up for grasp. This is the time to make choices that are self-empowering, and to study those who wield power in order to subconsciously pick up cues that could help us increase our own. With Scorpio, there are a few realms of life that have the potential to boost our vitality: sex, death, and mystery. Sexual energy enhances creativity. Notice how it feels to build it up rather than release it for recreation’s sake. Death enables rebirth and, if we make a strong enough impression, inheritance. Dig through the dirt to uncover long buried projects and resources that were previously discarded as garbage and left for dead. They are likely to be a seen a different light right now. Mystery is both alluring and enlightening, not to mention protective for those who are otherwise vulnerable. A lot may be withheld, as long as a little is showing. If wielded irresponsibly or ineffectively, these same spheres of existence may very well elicit the opposite effect. Recognize troublesome attitudes and inclinations now so that they may be overcome through amelioration.
Because of this deeply intense concentration of Scorpio energy, we have the chance right now to identify healthy ways to embrace the forbidden taboos in order to transcend fixations that are rooted in guilt, shame, fear, embarrassment, trauma, etc. By pretending that these hidden obsession do not exist, they will prove to be unnecessarily destructive at some point. It might take an artful approach, but we would all be transformed for the better by envisioning a lifestyle that allows us to explore the “unacceptable” parts of our personalities without being stigmatized. I cannot tell anyone how exactly to do this, but maybe by observing a celebrated public figure whose work is consistently controversial, you will learn how to get away with murder.. figuratively speaking.
The veil is thin right now, which means that we have access to certain energies and entities that otherwise elude our consciousness. This is a beautiful time to pay tribute to the spirits of dead relatives, ancestors, and people we wish to emulate out of respect [see: Halloween, Dia de los Muertos]. Intuition is high and it is easier to see through appearances to penetrate the essence of what really is versus what is presented. By the same coin, the disguises people wear will be more complex in order to [whether consciously and unconsciously] mask the secrets that would otherwise be exposed. Be careful what is invoked and what is entertained right now because there is a thin between being treated and being tricked. This New Moon in Scorpio, can be used to increase our comprehension of the occult and all its mystical affairs.
As mentioned above, it is best to avoid setting intentions BEFoRE the New Moon reaches the point of its exactitude and DURiNG the void-of-course moon, as both scenarios would weaken the celestial receptivity we have been discussing. Here are periods of time I believe are best to set intentions, make a wish, or request a preference…
