Astrology is for everyone, even celebrities. A #StarsAndSymbols example: here on Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas album, the designer incorporates the Capricorn glyph into the font (as an embellishment of the letter ‘M’ in case you need me to spell it out for you). In magic, this type of covert, symbolic design is called a sigil, and sigils are highly powerful for their occult (hidden) power because they communicate directly to the subconcious mind like a subliminal message.
But why Capricorn? Especially since Mariah’s an Aries! Let me tell you…
Capricorn (ruled by and associated with planet Saturn, which shares etymology with Santa… 🎅 and Satan) is the sign of tradition, longevity, delayed (albeit enduring) success, prominent visibility, and high professional esteem. They call Capricorn the Sea Goat, and G.O.A.T. has become an acronym for Greatest Of All Time, so I’m sure it’s no coincidence that holiday classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has just reached a new peak position on the Billboard Hot 100 after being released 23 years ago.
Saturn is now in Capricorn, its home sign where it is most comfortable, for the first time in 27 years, and today the Sun shifts into Capricorn and joins Saturn in Capricorn to form a special conjunction on this Winter Solstice. Could this emphasis on the Capricorn archetype propel this song to the top of the charts two decades later? Only time will tell!
