a compassionate approach [#FreeWrite]

this is a follow-up or addendum of sorts to my previous My Best Week post, “the alchemist“…

in order to be thorough in the process of exposing self-sabotaging behavioral compulsions, it is valuable for one to explore them without shame, but instead with genuine, nonjudgmental curiosity. denial of these urges is not as effective ultimately as it would be to let them happen as they do. if we are strong enough to take an objective assessment after all is said and done, with a forgiving approach rather than one of condemnation, we can determine the pros and cons of our potentially destructive tendencies in an efficient way that will surely help to redirect that same energy to be used as fuel for our inherent creativity. the alchemist: 6/29/14 [#MyBestWeek]

it is easy this week for us to identify exactly where we are losing life force energy by giving away our power. there are many ways we keep ourselves powerless without even realizing it. in order to bring these unconscious tendencies into the realm of awareness, we must honestly assess the interactions and activities that leave us feeling drained.

the crash of disappointment that is experienced after the false fulfillment of temporary satisfaction is an indication that we are wasting our energy on instant gratification and superficially quick results rather than exercising the full potential and focused patience of true power. is it easy to believe that we become more powerful by controlling external circumstances, specifically the people in our environments, but that is untrue. by focusing on manipulation of the “other” to get what we want instead of trusting our ability to successfully navigate any possible scenario, we actually forfeit all self-control, rendering us powerless. when things don’t go our way, many of us hold grudges that affect us adversely while the objects of our contempt are living their lives, unbothered and empowered by our resentment. obsession, addiction, attachment, the list goes on, and these are all ways we unknowingly relinquish our personal power. as the self-sabotage becomes clearer, the next logical step is to change our ways.

opposite of addiction: pisces new moon [#StarsAndSymbols]

every sign has a low and high vibration. the quality of expression depends entirely on the individual. as the moon inches closer to its union with the sun in pisces, we are affected by an intensifying concentration of this inundating energy. many of us are being consumed by the cosmic atmosphere, so let’s take a moment to reflect on the fish…

pisces, the final sign of the zodiac, represents the transition between this world and the other world, with all the mysteries and magic one would imagine. straddling dimensions makes for an impressionably susceptible spirit, so piscean types require periodic escape from the day to day drama in order to purge themselves of other people’s energy. one of the traps that trips pisces up is addiction, as it can lose itself in the temporary satisfaction of some substance or distraction [alcohol, drugs, tv, religion, porn, food, gambling, etc], ignoring the issue without ever solving it. it can be a vicious cycle of self-sabotage, one that can be avoided by tuning our frequency to pisces’ higher vibration. but first, i believe we must answer this question:

what is the opposite of addiction?

*******

“aphrodite lady seashell bikini, garden panty… VENUS!” the sensual Goddess of Love is setting the mood. the focus is an equal balance of “me” and “you”, considering venus represents the feminine principle of accommodation. the give and the take, the attraction and the repulsion, the have and the have not; all venusian. meeting someone halfway in some sort of rendezvous is highly likely. i also pulled the 7th house, which is associated with venus, so there is no doubt that the exchange of partnership is paramount.

spiritual is pisces, the next card pulled. all things unseen, the things of our dreams and nightmares and illusions, are all piscean. the fish represent the universal oneness that connects us all like an invisible network of heartstrings. impressionable and compassionate, pisces heals other people by absorbing their negativity. selflessness, while obviously admirable, can overwhelm, and sometimes all we want to do is get away. try as we might, it is not easy to escape this sphere of existence (beware of indulgence in addictive substances!) and the burden of the outside energy we may feel obliged to assume. like a lifejacket for the sinking, it may feel like we’re struggling just below the surface, trying desperately to stay afloat.

plugged in, again: gemini season [astroloco]

Is it me or does it seem like Taurus Season has lasted for 2 years? Not in a bad way. It just seems to be taking its sweeeeet time. Typical Taurus. I guess you really CAN’T rush The Bull.

Gemini laughs at Taurus’ slow stability, so if you’re in need of some excitement, get ready to party with The Twins. Although there are already 3 planets [Mercury, Venus, Jupiter] in this social sign, Gemini Season officially starts next week with a stimulating stellium [3 or more planets conjunct]. If you’re looking for a little more variety and novelty, look no further.

My MacBook started rejecting the adapter’s charge last week. It wouldn’t start and I had no clue why. Uncertainty makes me anxious in the most urgent way. I could’ve easily went to get it diagnosed the same day, which is what I usually do. Instead, I took it as a sign that I needed a break from the convenience(?) of having a laptop.

I lasted a whole week without my computer (although there are other desktop computers in my house), which is quite a feat for someone like me who is accustomed (addicted) to staring at a screen. I forced forced to find other ways to spend time – you know, like we used to do once upon a time. The week I spent without my computer has definitely affected my relationship with technology. How? I will see in the next few weeks. My ultimate goal is to reduce the hours I spend plugged in.

mountain_lion_hero

I picked up my MacBook from the Apple Store yesterday. I decided to ~splurge~ and upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, which I wanted to do for a while. The difference isn’t that major, but The Twins appreciates even the slightest change of pace.

Gemini Season is all about staying connected, but being flexible enough not to get stuck in the muck of stagnating creature comforts. When a new episode begins to look like a rerun, it’s time to change the channel. Switch it up for the love of life!

one day: the crutch [poetry]

It’s a crutch, it’s a crutch, it’s a beautiful crutch
Constructed like time itself
Held as reality, regarded as law
But flawed and conceptual on a good day
It’s time to give it up

How long will I smoke this tree
Choking on blunt debris with a pair of lungs unseen
Not playing fair but praying on this tainted air
Hoping to a degree that this high won’t lose its steam
I be dreaming until I wake up
Then fall back asleep
In an instant
Suddenly

Sullenly
Eating meat
Beats me why, but it be
Between the teeth, diet cheating
Guilty grieving, chasing blood with leaves
Trying to deceive myself into accepting the savory savagery
Just one more bite
Teeth sink
Tears well
Oh well

There is a thirst to be quelled
But I can’t bear to drink any more
There is a place called hell
But it is too close to my front door
My home is not where I was reared
But I was raised somewhere near
Right around here, in a world of fear
But somehow, I love it dearly

Still

pisces: new moon [astroloco]

PISCES NEW MOON
(March 11, 2013 @ 3:52 PM)

Focus: Healing
Themes: Love, compassion, sacrifice, forgiveness, belief, dreams

This is a spiritual new moon (especially since the numerology of this date is 11, the super-conscious master number). Let go of your ego and dissolve back into universal oneness.
