unplugged, but still connected – gemini season [astroloco]

Ask any astrologer about The Twins and they are sure to mention phones ringing off the hook, chirping incessantly with never-ending text messages, emails, tweets, and other ~extremely urgent~ notifications. While being barraged with streams of technological consciousness is a convenient way to stay in the know, I know how liberating it feels not to be reliant on a mobile device. I lost my phone 2 months ago, and although the majority of my peer group would have suffered some sort of psychotic episode in this situation, I have never been better!

I was fortunate enough to be born in the 1990s, a technological transition of sorts. Most of us indulged in television, and the occasional family was even privileged enough to own a PC, but it was virtually unheard of to stare at a screen outside of the house until the new millennium. Now it’s a novelty NOT to have a cell phone, tablet, or laptop on your person at all times.

The attachment we have to these devices is certainly a great shift considering how dependent we have come to be. The all-knowing intelligence of the smart phone and other similar gadgets are seemingly inescapable in an Orwellian kind of way, but that’s an idea for another day. Or is it…

conscious curiosity: gemini season [astroloco]

We should all hitchhike at least once in our lives. Right? Or have I been driven to the jaded edge of normalcy by one too many long walks to the bus stop? Either way, I have had the incurable urge to flip my thumb to the sky, left hand hand high, just to have the obligatory hitchhiking story to tell.

Walking the winding(ly straight) road from The Spa, my mind dazzled with the endless array of possible outcomes. Either I would be left hanging – outcast as perverse social scum, searching for trouble in the lowest way – or I would simply be offered a ride. Of course, and not so simply, the latter outcome would present a whole slew of scenarios. I could very well be kidnapped, but I could also meet the love of my life. Or my soul mate. Twin flame even? If I could only just, you know, actually hitchhike.

uranus/pluto square [astroloco]

URANUS SQUARE PLUTO
(May 20, 2013 @ 6 PM)

A rude awakening or a conscious evolution? This is the 3rd Uranus/Pluto square of 7 [2012-2015], and we are transcending with each trigger. Release whatever is keeping you vibrating at a low frequency in order to connect to your highest self.

This square [challenging aspect] in particular is exact at 11 degrees Aries [Uranus] and Capricorn [Pluto]. If you remember our numerology lesson, 11 is a master number with a intuitively spiritual vibration. Some people make a wish when they see 11:11, and whether or not they know it, seeing this number sequences signifies a shift in consciousness. It is no coincidence that these planets are squaring each other in 11 degrees of their respective signs. We are being upgraded.

Although the square is the main attraction, there are other, more favorable aspects involved. Uranus in Aries is sextile Mercury and Venus in Gemini. The newfound self-awareness  that we are experiencing [Uranus in Aries] is shifting the way we think and communicate [Mercury], as well as what we appreciate and value in our exchanges with other people [Venus]. Pluto in Capricorn is sextile Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. The powerful occult understanding of shadowy societal structures that we are unearthing [Pluto in Capricorn] is transforming our perception of reality [Saturn] and fantasy [Neptune]. Despite the frightening amount of commotion this square is causing, it is making some exciting (and necessary) aspects.

When we are conscious of this energy and the symbolic planetary relationships, it is easy to see we are evolving. We can embrace this energy by paying attention to where the overwhelming feeling of frustration manifests in our lives, because that is where this square is being played out. To varying degrees, we are all being deprogrammed and reprogrammed to live in alignment with our truest selves. It seems hard, as change usually is, but it doesn’t have to be.

It’s easy to be pushed when we’re standing still, so why not make the first move? This is a new age! All you have to do is turn the page.

plugged in, again: gemini season [astroloco]

Is it me or does it seem like Taurus Season has lasted for 2 years? Not in a bad way. It just seems to be taking its sweeeeet time. Typical Taurus. I guess you really CAN’T rush The Bull.

Gemini laughs at Taurus’ slow stability, so if you’re in need of some excitement, get ready to party with The Twins. Although there are already 3 planets [Mercury, Venus, Jupiter] in this social sign, Gemini Season officially starts next week with a stimulating stellium [3 or more planets conjunct]. If you’re looking for a little more variety and novelty, look no further.

My MacBook started rejecting the adapter’s charge last week. It wouldn’t start and I had no clue why. Uncertainty makes me anxious in the most urgent way. I could’ve easily went to get it diagnosed the same day, which is what I usually do. Instead, I took it as a sign that I needed a break from the convenience(?) of having a laptop.

I lasted a whole week without my computer (although there are other desktop computers in my house), which is quite a feat for someone like me who is accustomed (addicted) to staring at a screen. I forced forced to find other ways to spend time – you know, like we used to do once upon a time. The week I spent without my computer has definitely affected my relationship with technology. How? I will see in the next few weeks. My ultimate goal is to reduce the hours I spend plugged in.

I picked up my MacBook from the Apple Store yesterday. I decided to ~splurge~ and upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, which I wanted to do for a while. The difference isn’t that major, but The Twins appreciates even the slightest change of pace.

Gemini Season is all about staying connected, but being flexible enough not to get stuck in the muck of stagnating creature comforts. When a new episode begins to look like a rerun, it’s time to change the channel. Switch it up for the love of life!
