Real Housewives of Atlanta’s NENE LEAKES – So Nasty, So SHREWD

Say what you will about our favorite [?] “very rich bitch” Nene Leakes, but I believe she is a branding genius. Of course the Stars & Symbols have EVERYTHING to do with it.

On one hand it’s easy to drift away into a comfortable daydream of warm blankets and body heat. On the other hand, the possibility of having it all snatched away is an ever present threat. There is a part of you that would love to grow attached to something or someone that feels like home, but you remember all to well how it ended last time.

Without realizing it, you may sabotage a good thing by unconsciously creating disruptive situations and instigating conflicts. Yes, it’s true that death is an inevitable part of life, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the moment as it is. Everything – good, bad, and in between – is impermanent. The sooner you accept that, the easier life will be. Just because it satisfies you today doesn’t meant it will get you off tomorrow, but then again… why should it? Continue reading

Every now and then there are lazy days. You might wish you could take it easy like a fish floating down a bubbling brook, but you quickly realize that your ideal for the day is more of a fantasy than the truth. There are creative obligations that you must tend to if you want to your artistic vision to be taken seriously, but before you start to resent your collaborators and commissioners, remind yourself that you made an agreement and must honor your word. If anything, be grateful for The Ones who hold you accountable, as they are facilitating your growth and maturity as an individual. You might find yourself out of sorts as you attempt to mute the inner voice that encourages you to chill, but you know if you let your hair down now, you might never muster the will to fulfill your commitments. Just because it isn’t pretty doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go there. Just because it doesn’t feel good doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable. Isn’t it true that the beauty of discomfort is in its potential?

There would be no pleasure without the litmus test of pain, and you are like a moth to a flame. You say you’ve had better days, but the fire’s reflection in your eyes says otherwise. Continue reading

dare to deviate: 6/22/14 [#MyBestWeek]

Screen shot 2014-01-13 at 3.46.03 AM

on one hand, we are relatively comfortable navigating the familiar terrain of our everyday environments. we know, for the most, what to expect and how to respond. the people who surround us immediately, friends, family, neighbors and classmates have shaped us in ways we don’t even readily realize. the impressions that have been left on us have impacted us subconsciously so that our behavior is a direct result of the communities in which we were raised. every now and then we are shaken up by changing tides, but we learn to go with the flow as it always leads us back to what we know. there’s no place like home. it’s nice here.

4/6/14: fight in the fog [#MyBestWeek]

it gets hard to see when straddling the line between the conscious and unconscious. our eyes take a while to adjust when they have just been dreaming, so it may seem as though we’re out of focus. neptune is said to represent clairvoyance, but if we are not spiritually inclined then the physical vision may be slightly unclear. confusion is a symptom of impaired eyesight and this haziness can be frustrating for those of us who are trying to see what lies ahead. even though we’re not in bed, it still feels incredibly unreal.

indistinction leaves us with a lot of options. at any given interval, life as we know it could go either way, which means that we must be quick-witted enough to know when to switch it up. things are changing at the drop of a dime and versatility is the only way not to get left behind. gemini is the sign of duality, so we must learn to be flexible because anything could happen. the twins are in a constant state of excitement as there is always new stimulation to be experienced, but they can just as well scatter themselves thanks to their short attention spans. if there is an absolute answer, it will take every bit of concentration.

to exacerbate matters, commitment is not in the immediate equation. we are too equal-minded to grow attached to one interest, so our diverse associations spread us thin. the 11th house is indicative of our hopes and wishes for the future in all their varied plurality. being connected to the current of an electrical outlet is bound to bring us some of the most shocking revelations from the highest source of power, but it takes great effort to sustain the singularity of such lucid insights.

a bird’s nest: cancer new moon [astroloco]

About a month or 2 ago, my family and I noticed a nest being constructed by a mother bird atop the ledge of our front door. Every time we went to enter or exit our house, we would disturb the bird, and she’d fly away. The loud, crisp flapping of her wings would startle me the first couple times, but eventually I began to anticipate her and she stopped flying away. My mom wanted to knock the nest down, but I thought it was special that out of all the houses on my street, she chose ours to call her home. We left the nest unbothered.

After her eggs hatched into baby birds, one of which I believe I caught a glimpse, I started seeing her less and less. The nest is still there, but the birds have flown elsewhere. I kind of miss seeing them perched above our doorway. Reminded me that although we are a suburban family, we are still living in nature (as if I weren’t still recovering from Pamela the Possum). Although they are not here anymore, they can return whenever they want, and they will be received the warmest of welcomes.

What is home? Is it the place we were born or the place we were raised? Or is it where we are? Maybe home is where we are going, or better yet where we want to be! As the birds know, home is any place that our wings spread, and even beyond the beds on which we rest. Regardless of our current residences, the nest will always be there, whether in the physical realm or in the sentimental dimension of memories. The New Moon in Cancer gives us the support we need to finally release our grip on the past. We feel secure enough to live in the present and foster the development of our emotional wellbeing, creative imagination, friends and family.

Life in the sky is full of ups, downs, wanes and waxes, but all is well when we fly with the wind, embracing each gust as it comes. No matter where the wind may carry us, we will always wind up exactly where we need to be. Welcome home!
