sun in gemini 2016 [#StarsAndSymbols]

Sun enters Gemini

___

What is: the Sun?

CAM02536.jpg

The core of your personality is illuminated by the Sun sign. As the sun takes thirty days to travel through each one of the twelve zodiac signs, so each one has a month in the spotlight. Just like the sun in the solar system, everything revolves around the astrological Sun as the main source of vitality and awareness, and so it is the energy from which every creative expression emanates. It is also an emblem of the human ego. The space occupied by the Sun is where one feels most alive, important, and unique.

sagittarius full moon 2016 [#StarsAndSymbols]

SAGITTARIUS FULL MOON
5/21/2016 @ 5:14 pm EST

___

Numerology of the Day: 8
[5+2+1+2+0+1+6= 17 = 1+7 = 8]

 rory8[1]

What goes around comes around is the idea behind the number 8. Just like the symbol of infinity, this number embodies endlessness. 8 can be the gift that keeps on giving, or it can represent the shackles of bondage to an oppressive circumstance. The result of the 8 energy depends on how its power is wielded. The get back is only as strong as the put out, sort of like karma. Or exactly like karma. If every action has an equal and opposite reaction, then whoever reads this better act accordingly, or else.

Once this personal responsibility is assumed, 8 can elevate ordinary individuals to executive heights. 8 is related to the archetype of the boss, one who has self-control and well as power of the circumstances of subordinates. Ambition, business, and corporation all fall under the rule of this authoritative number. Not so positively, the number 8 may be cumbersome and sensitive to the pressures of this gravitational existence, so people who identify with this vibration must often fight through fatalism. With discipline and balance, 8 can achieve greatness.

Major Arcana Tarot Correspondence for Sagittarius:
XIV | Temperance

14temperance.jpg

After dealing with some of the Tarot’s more extreme archetypal circumstances, Temperance pops out of the deck as a reminder of moderation. Sometimes it’s more appropriate to lay back and be patient, even as the world seems to be spinning out of control. Do what must be done, but beware of doing too much too soon. Depending on the stakes of the situation, maybe it’s better to leave it alone altogether, whatever “it” may be.

Even in the bleakest of conditions, there is always a way to make the circumstance work, even if it takes a little magic in the form of alchemy. To be cliche, take all the lemons that life has given and make the best lemonade that lemons can make – with some other helpful ingredients, of course. Perhaps it’s best to focus less on getting rid of something [or someone] bothersome and to concentrate on transmuting trouble to triumph instead, thereby ensuring that victory will be the destination of this long journey.

Rather than acting thoughtlessly or giving into reckless reactivity, Temperance urges us to ponder the possibilities of the future, as well as how they may be affected. Play around with all available elements and realign resources to elicit exciting new effects and create unexplored contexts. The decision to bide time shouldn’t render one inactive. Anyone who equates apparent stillness to stasis is foolish, and more likely than not, that fool will be the one who ends up holding the losing hand.

Astrology:

The Full Moon is the monthly separation of the Sun [ego, identity, expression] and Moon [empathy, intuition, emotion], as they assume their most distant positions in opposite signs. This great space between our luminary bodies allows for a more comprehensive awareness of the energy that has been building, as the moon is illuminated to maximum capacity, revealing momentarily the mysteries of the creation cycle that once were [and will be again] concealed behind the nocturnal veil. Just as visibility increases to supernatural proportions, the emotional atmosphere is heightened prompting what seem to be unusual experiences and outbursts. The earthly realm becomes a mirror image of this cosmic standoff. Holistic awareness and dynamic self-expression are the blessings of the full moon, but a long overdue confrontation could be the prerequisite roadblock that makes it challenging to receive them. The goal is to recognize hidden facets of self instead of projecting dark revelations onto partners/opponents. Then and only then will personal balance be made possible, and thus all else is resolved. In the meantime, as the opposition builds, be prepared to go back and forth.

The Sun is shining on both sides of Gemini, but the Moon’s shift into Sagittarius will reveal even MORE. Why is Sagittarius considered opposite of multi-faceted Gemini?

let’s trip: sagittarius full moon/friday the 13th [#StarsAndSymbols]

Friends are good for a great variety of benefits. Many of mine inspire me to be better, bolder, and to grow (it’s in my astrology). In fact, the more I am inspired, the more likely we are to experience a relationship of longevity, as opposed to the brief encounters I have notched in bedposts past. I am often inspired to travel beyond the limitations that normally keep me confined, whether these limits are mental, emotional, spiritual, or physical. As I write this I am in the process of packing (does thinking about packing count as packing?) for my second vacation this year.

I booked my ticket at the last-minute. Part of me thought it would be best not to go, considering I was just got back from New Orleans this past May. I have a full-time position at a high-end retail store in a casino. My friend invited me right when we got back home from our last trip, but “it wouldn’t be responsible for me to go.” That’s what I thought. But alas, something inside me loves to go places I’ve never been, and it’s damn near impossible to restrain. “Fuck it,” I said without opening my mouth as I clicked to confirm my flight. “If liberation is my intention, then I have to be free to roam.”

Freedom

I depart on the afternoon of Friday, the 13th of 2014, just hours after the astronomically exact the full moon in Sagittarius. A former coworker and fellow occultist informed me that this is the last Friday the 13th full moon until 2049, and in her words, “Vegas will be fuuuun that nite.” I believe her. As if full moons weren’t already notorious enough, the superstition of Friday the 13th adds an extra dose of Anything Can Happen.

As always, full moons happen once every 30 or so days [month = moon cycle] when the moon opposes the sun in the sky, each one in the same degree of opposite signs. This full moon is in Sagittarius, opposite the sun in Gemini. Oppositions are considered difficult aspects in astrology. They represent potential separation, confrontation, and challenge. Under the opposition of the full moon, it’s like we’re in an intense game of tug of war, being pulled back and forth by two equally strong competitors. In order to express ourselves as individuals [sun] we risk our emotional security [moon], as these two planets are as far away from each other as possible, while us earthlings are in the middle, trying our best to not to go insane [lunatic = luna = moon].

who doesn’t want to belong? – venus in cancer [astroloco]

It’s always a joy to recollect a night out, especially on Day 2 of hangover-recovery. Moments, like the fragmented body parts of the rain-sunken possum floating face down in the flower-pot outside, seem to surface to the top of my consciousness at the most random moments (when I was trying to find a good position not to vomit, for example). Overall, I feel the night was a success, and I mean that in the most liver-inconsiderate way.

You see, I don’t go out very often, so when I do… I really go out. Now that I am currently not in college, I think I try to overcompensate when I get a rare chance to party. It’s like a have a point to prove. My point on Saturday was the VIP section at Haven, a new nightclub in Atlantic City’s Golden Nugget casino.

After not so subtly sneaking past the Cool Asians’ velvet rope and being subsequently removed, I proclaimed that I would be a VIP by the end of the night. Not that I’m not already Very Important, but um, HELLO…. bottle service and a seat! Who doesn’t want to sit and drink at a nightclub? Who doesn’t want to belong? Between breaking the dress code by wearing shorts (don’t ask me what happened to the pants I got in with), pole dancing during what I think was a sexy Rihanna song, and unsuccessfully VIP’ing myself, I knew I had to be a little more strategic, lest the security guard follow through on his threat to escort me out.

Finally, I spotted my savior. Across the dance-floor from the Cool Asians was a Hot Mom with an empty spot on her Very Important Couch. Instead of appearing thirsty and asking for a drink, I instead asked her if I could sit down next to her – you know, because I was sooo tired of dancing. Surprisingly, she agreed to let me have a seat, much to the disappointment of her not-as-hot friend who kept shaking her head at me.

Hot Mom invited me into her space like some of… mother. Without me having to ask, she poured me a drink as we introduced ourselves. Turns out she actually was a mother and she had bought out the VIP section for her friend’s birthday. I can’t recall her name, but she was nice and we are now Instagram friends. Like breast milk to a hungry baby, Hot Mom pacified my insatiable desire and made my Very Important Dream come true (does this sound Freudian to anyone else?).

conscious curiosity: gemini season [astroloco]

We should all hitchhike at least once in our lives. Right? Or have I been driven to the jaded edge of normalcy by one too many long walks to the bus stop? Either way, I have had the incurable urge to flip my thumb to the sky, left hand hand high, just to have the obligatory hitchhiking story to tell.

Walking the winding(ly straight) road from The Spa, my mind dazzled with the endless array of possible outcomes. Either I would be left hanging – outcast as perverse social scum, searching for trouble in the lowest way – or I would simply be offered a ride. Of course, and not so simply, the latter outcome would present a whole slew of scenarios. I could very well be kidnapped, but I could also meet the love of my life. Or my soul mate. Twin flame even? If I could only just, you know, actually hitchhike.

gemini season [astroloco]

GEMINI SEASON
(May 20 – June 20)

In the stillness stirs a restless soul. What used to be whole has split in 2 making for a dualistic point of view. Whether it is fiction or the truth, it will not be boring. This is Gemini.

learning the same thing twice: full moon/lunar eclipse in sagittarius [astroloco]

One thing that college taught me is that everyone has their own way of learning, on their own time. My process was very different than my classmates. I discovered that no matter how much I was programmed within the constraints of the classroom, I actually had to experience these lessons for myself in real life. Even if I failed an exam or BS’d my way through an entire course, it was not the end of the world, because I knew for a fact that I would get it when I was supposed to get it. For many years I would bust my ass to make the grade, until I finally decided to detach myself from the stiflingly rigid expectations of the American school system. Time, especially linear, is no longer a factor in my education.

Space is also an education non-factor for me. A classroom is anywhere in which we are conscious enough to teach and be taught. Wisdom is not exclusive to mountaintops and Mongolian monasteries. Wanderlust long distance journeys are great, but who says we have to run to the other end of earth to find what we are seeking? Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the stimulating conversations we have with the strangers we meet down the street at the market.

roadends

For the past couple weeks, I have been driving an hour away to the nearest Whole Foods. I love the occasional day trip, but – between gas money and actually buying a week or two’s worth of groceries –  this was way too expensive to become a routine. Yesterday was my day off, and I decided to see what the regular grocery stores in my area had to offer. To my surprise, I found a lot of my favorite brands right in my local ShopRite. The selection, of course, is not extensive as the healthier grocery chains, but it is there for those of us who are looking to align our eating habits with the higher consciousness of the new paradigm. It’s a process, but it is happening.

All of our studies are coming to light under this Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius. The lessons we have learned, regardless of when and where, have everything to do with who we are and what we believe to be true. I am thankful for all of my experiences, because they are the adventures that have helped me discover myself, even when I felt lost.

Once upon a time, I was supposed to graduate yesterday. Although I didn’t step across the stage at Lincoln Center with the rest of the Class of ’13, I too survived this semester. My phantom leg has finally been severed after 3 months of limping, and I made it through the operation. Instead of trying to walk the way I used to, I am embracing my new gait, because there is no point in learning the same thing twice.
