Like the fateful moments before the Big Bang [theoretically] exploded in a dazzling display of unadulterated life force energy, particles of apparent nothingness are colliding violently to form the perfect storm of pure creative potential that is the number 1.

Just as phallic as its symbol suggests,  1 is the spark of potent possibility that penetrates past the formulaic fixtures of the world to stimulate the origination of new forms. Through sheer will power and singular focus, 1 is able to bring to fruition anything it so chooses, even if it is inconceivable to those who lack visionary awareness. 1 is the number that represents the pioneer or the inventor that changes the course of life with the bright idea he or she manifests.

Think of 1 as a magic wand, in that when it is directed with deliberate intention, life can be exactly as one wishes it to be. This is an example of the determination inherent in this number, as well as its leadership qualities. Not everyone, however, appreciates such dominant force, so it is wise to be present and personalize interactions on a case by case basis when wielding the commanding essence of the number 1. Even if domination is explicitly the goal [hey… it happens], a thoughtlessly offensive presentation is a surefire way to become public enemy number one.

The lowest expression of the number 1 is probably its propensity for egotism and self-centeredness. After all, it is hard not to take things personal when one think itself the center of the universe. When negative, people resonating with this energy will stop at nothing to win, even to the detriment and alienation of others.

Although extremely individualistic, 1 signifies total, undivided unification. In this aspect, 1 reminds us of how, when concentrated and in perfect alignment, anything can happen. Pay special attention to any “firsts” that come to be, as there is something magical about doing something that has never been done before.

Major Arcana Tarot Correspondence for Gemini:
The Lovers

lovers.jpg

As the sixth card in the tarot’s Major Arcana, The Lovers evokes the balance needed to unify life’s opposing forces, the best example of which is the fateful union of two stars that are bound by divine celestial orchestration to cross paths. The nature of such an encounter could go either way, but whether it is the dawn of an incomparable romance or the figurative golden apple that incites the best epic, the archetypal attraction depicted in this card has the power to alter the course of history.

As profound as it can be, a love like this isn’t guaranteed to last forever, although its myth might just be legendary. This energy is subject to changes of heart, clandestine love affairs, and the scandalous revelation of a double life. Paradise is as easily indulged as it is revoked by a higher power or, perhaps worse, coveted by envious onlookers. There is no way to anticipate how it will all end, so the only option is to be mindful of all associations and to adapt to the infinite variety of variables at any given moment.

The New Moon is the monthly meeting of the Sun and the Moon in the same sign. This combination makes for a great potency that, when harnessed, encourages anything that is initiated or asked. The best time to set New Moon intentions is the following few days after the aspect is exact, once the dust has settled, but the day of is usually fine too. Warning: avoid setting intentions before the New Moon is exact and/or during the void-of-course moon. [See below for the best times to make your wish.]

On one hand it’s easy to drift away into a comfortable daydream of warm blankets and body heat. On the other hand, the possibility of having it all snatched away is an ever present threat. There is a part of you that would love to grow attached to something or someone that feels like home, but you remember all to well how it ended last time.

Without realizing it, you may sabotage a good thing by unconsciously creating disruptive situations and instigating conflicts. Yes, it’s true that death is an inevitable part of life, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the moment as it is. Everything – good, bad, and in between – is impermanent. The sooner you accept that, the easier life will be. Just because it satisfies you today doesn’t meant it will get you off tomorrow, but then again… why should it? Continue reading

What’s the point of trying to own anything when it will all be taken away? Maybe that’s your mood today, even if you are still holding on for dear life, which you probably are. It’s just that the tighter you hold, the harder it becomes to grasp the very object you want to possess. Obsessed? That’s an understatement. The real question is what will you do when you inevitability announces itself and forces you to relinquish your coveted keepsake?

sudden-death[1]

As you flirt with the potential onslaught of death and grief, figurative or factual, you might not appear to be viscerally twisted as you feel inside. You much prefer to keep this traumatic process as private as possible. Separation is such an intimate circumstance, especially when you lose something that you allowed to become so vitally integral. Everything is happening so fast and you may not be afforded to time to process all the shock of it all.

Reflect on your daily routine. Write down three activities that you enjoy everyday, especially if you enjoy them in the privacy of your own home during your free time. asteroid goddesses: an introduction [#StarsAndSymbols]

last week i ordered 3 astrology books, and one by one they were all delivered. the first one i received was Asteroid Goddesses by Demetra George. it expounds upon the mythology of the 4 main asteroid goddesses [Ceres, Pallas Athene, Vesta, and Juno], how their respective discoveries correlated with collective awakening of different aspects of the divine feminine, and the importance of their astrological incorporation.

519EGHVN71L._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

it is intriguing how each asteroid goddess springs forth from the moon’s matrix of the feminine potential, as well as the physically active manifestation of alluring venus, who symbolizes and governs reproductive fertility, to represent a unique facet of feminine principle. the addition of these cosmic bodies to the natal chart adds an insightful dimension and fuller feminine influence that was merely suggested by the presence of the moon and venus, but never explored or specified in depth.

since i believe this is valuable information, i will share briefly what each asteroid goddess signifies…

ceres-with-poppies-and-snakes1

ceres is the earth mother, regarded as a physical delineation of the moon’s nurturing instinct. ceres rules food, clothing, and general sustenance that provides nourishment necessary to keep the children, plants, and animals of the earth alive and well. ceres, goddess of fertility and agriculture, had a beautiful daughter persephone with whom she was inseparable. in ceres’ contentment, the planet was blessed with infinite prosperity and eternal springtime, although many suitors desperately desired to be with the persephone, who [in the grasp of her mother] was rendered impenetrable. one day fateful day, ceres’ precious daughter was abducted by pluto, god of the underworld. ceres, in the paralyzing throes of grief, refused to tend to the crops, thereby not only starving the people, but herself as well. alarmed that there would be no mortals left to worship them, almighty [and praise-hungry] zeus decided reluctantly to strike a deal with pluto so that both he and ceres would receive joint custody of persephone, which would indeed pacify (at least partially) both parties.

during the spring and summer months, ceres is reunited with her daughter and all is well, but when she returns to the underworld, we all experience ceres’ loss in the form of the lifeless winter. attachment, separation, sharing, and custody are ceres themes. to truly comprehend the change of seasons and cyclical nature of time, ancients would be initiated into the mysteries of ceres [life, death, and rebirth]. where we find ceres in the natal chart is the area in which we must foster growth in the most organic sense, but also learn the universal lesson of letting go. as goddess of the grain, our relationship to food [often tied intrinsically to self-esteem] is governed by ceres, so one might also look to ceres in astrology when dealing with malnourishment, emotional eating, and eating disorders in general. shining a light on the shadow [#ShadySun]

The better part of the last year and a half was spent putting a lot of energy into my old YouTube Channel. Projects such as Improv ThursDaze and AstroLoco were rough around the edges, but they were learning experiences for which I am truly grateful and proud. At this point, for a multitude of reasons, it is clear that my old channel has served its purpose. It is time to expand Shady Sun by using what I have built as a foundation to continue breaking through the barriers that stand in the way of illumination.

I have recently created a BRAND NEW Shady Sun YouTube Channel. Although I was reluctant to move on from what I spent so long cultivating, I needed the inspiration of a blank slate. Shady Sun’s potential is more limitless than ever, and even though it is being revamped, the goal is still to bring awareness to the masses.

My newest project is called #StarsAndSymbols. Astrology is great, and it was obviously my focus, but I was impelled to encompass a broader spectrum of occult imagery. This will be a learning experience for everyone, as we investigate and interpret icons of all sorts, familiar and unfamiliar. In life, we must follow all the signs, because the universe is constantly trying to tell us something. Continue reading

the gospel [#StarsAndSymbols]

Have you ever been ordered to deliver a divine word?

Think about all the instances in which you were used as a channel for someone else to view. How the audience perceives the program is out of your hands, even when the ratings are low and the show is slandered by vehement reviews. The critics have crucified you, so no one really cares if you are canceled.

Maybe your public service was misinterpreted, but the announcement was heard loud and alarming clear, rendering your mission accomplished.
