To assume this much personal responsibility might seem like a burden, but a true visionary knows that his or her effort will be supported by a higher power if the steps are actually taken toward the realization of the vision. Where there’s a will there’s a way. · 🌟

Motifs: Atlantic City, NJ [#SuccessfulSuggestions]

In my article “10 Ways to Win 2017“, the first suggestion I offer is to “Establish A Motif”. A motif is a recurring idea or theme that inspires and informs a creative work, a brand, etc. I think the most powerful motifs are also the most fundamental.

For example, the city you were born and/or raised is an easy motif that can provide enough specificity to fuel an entire career. After all, one is a product of one’s origin, and one’s origin will always influence the trajectory of one’s life.

Here is a personal example of how I use my hometown of Atlantic City as a motif by identifying all the fun facts that make it (as well as its inhabitants) uniquely notable. If I remember that all these bullet points live within me regardless of the distances I travel, I will have a reference point that enriches my every expression with the endearing clarity of autobiographical context.

Try to Establish A Motif today! If your motif is your hometown, what are some things you’d list that make it distinct, and what do those things say about you?

Ever heard of Captain Save A Hoe? Yeah… Nobody wants to be that guy. Trying to rescue everyone who crosses your path isn’t possible, and if it were, it still wouldn’t be practical. Everyone has their own lives to live and their own choices to make.

So, what if the one who needs assistance is a close family, a lover, or a friend? So what! Sometimes you have to draw the line between what you can and can’t do for other people. The Ones closest to you have a way of wielding guilt when your actions defy their expectations, which are based on the role they have created for you to play in their soap opera, but that is not your burden to carry. You have the right to deny anyone who attempts to modify or manipulate your behavior for their own emotional amelioration and psychological security. Rip the script or at least rewrite it in your own words.

boundary_fullEstablishing clearly defined boundaries doesn’t make you any less of a perfect partner [as if that were even a thing]. Contrary to what you may believe, adopting interpersonal discrimination serves to empower both parties. As compassionate as you may be, you sabotage your own wellbeing when your livelihood is dependent upon other people’s peace of mind. Continue reading

freedom is beautiful, but let’s not abuse it. use it wisely. explore your limits. disregard the ones that are rooted in pain and define the ones that are conducive to a job well done. establishing your own boundaries will help you to stay on track today, and as long as your vision is specific, you will be pleased with what you are able to accomplish. focus guarantees fulfillment.

the roots & the tree: capricorn full moon [#StarsAndSymbols]

one of the great things about roots is how they provide the tree with the support necessary to uphold its composure as it climbs great heights. if there is no foundation, there is no growth. that said, the fullest way for the tree to honor its roots is to challenge itself to reach higher than it ever has. after all, isn’t that the purpose of planting seeds in the first place?

with the sun in cancer, we are focused on the acknowledgment of the deepest, most familiar facets of our personhood. to nourish and protect the life force within is the instinct that keeps each species going from generation to generation. It may not always make rational sense, but thanks to intuition and the assortment of other gifts stored away in our ancestral goodie bags, we know what we have to do at any given moment to preserve this fragile existence. to sustain our lineage is encoded in our dna.

before we get too comfortable, we must remember that no matter how well acclimatized we are, every season presents its challenges. without the occasional obstacle, the experience of life would be too subjective to sustain the dynamism of authentic expression in all its completeness. that is where the full moon in capricorn, which opposes the cancer sun, comes into play. we are feeling the subconscious call to endeavor toward the practical attainment of worldly accomplishment. our survival skills mean little if we do not at some point assume responsibility for the successful advancement of the family name beyond the home and into the stratosphere of society. the tangible achievements we need to satisfy this obscure hunger are the products of structure, goals, and concentrated motivation.

ecstatic employment: 7/6/14 [#MyBestWeek]

Screen shot 2014-01-13 at 3.46.03 AM

being a public example of the precision and efficiency of purposeful self-containment will satiate our karmic desire to progress toward the destiny of this current incarnation. there is something fulfilling about going back to basics and tending to the duties that require our devotion. conditions cannot be improved for anyone or anything unless they receive an adequate amount of tlc, and the survival of the species alone is incentive enough for us to swallow our pride and get to work. the goal is to enhance the community and society, but we must start on an individual level, with the inspiring enhancement of ourselves.

refine my mind: 6/8/14 [#MyBestWeek]

The potential to maximize this week lies in the efficiency and effectiveness of our cognitive processes. Focusing on the improvement of our mental faculties will yield the results that will assist us in realizing our highest potential. The way we think, the way we transmit messages, the way we make sense of and apply what we learn affects us personally, as well as those with whom we come in contact, so it is in our best interest to fix what we find to be faulty in regards to our systems of information.

the ides of march: virgo full moon [#StarsAndSymbols]

“beware the ides of march.”

“what’s that?”

“did you read julius caesar?”

“no.”

“me neither. but today’s march 15, the day caesar was stabbed in the back by his best friend.”

Vincenzo Camuccini, "Morte di Cesare", 1798,

i don’t know if that’s entirely accurate or just a loose interpretation of an age old literary classic. like a game of telephone, things get lost in translation. regardless of who he was killed, he is still dead, and thus the legend remains. despite our interpersonal melodramas, i doubt many of us are being literally backstabbed on this fine day, so why not frame this warning a little differently? 33: the master teacher [#StarsAndSymbols]

I moved around a lot as child. We had recently moved into an apartment in the suburbs of Atlantic City with my newborn sister when I turned 6. The address was 33 Liberty Court.

33

Like most of the places I called home in my early years, we lived there for less than a year. Despite the duration, I learned a lot of my most valuable lessons in the minute amount of time we spent in this apartment. I babysat myself for the first time, as well as my infant sister, when my mom had to step out for work or to run important errands. Sometimes, I had to wake myself up in the morning, pack my own lunch, and walk alone down the street to the bus stop for school. When I pretended to read a list of books to win the BOOK IT! prize (a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut), my mom dissuaded me against cheating my way to victory, which left a huge impression on my conscience. Due to the mold in the apartment, I even endured a week of trauma (and a Happy Days marathon on Nick @ Nite) at the hospital, which taught me not to play around with my allergies. These situations, among others, provided me with wisdom that I carry with me to this day. It was not until years later that I realized our little apartment was vibrating at such a masterful frequency.

In a previous post on numerology, I mentioned the master numbers [the 3 numbers that aren’t reduced to single digit status]: 11, 22, and 33. Known as the Master Teacher, 33 combines the spiritually intuitive sensitivity of 11 and the enterprisingly global vision of 22, and uses this knowledge to uplift the world. 33 [3+3] is a higher vibration of 6, the nurturing number that represents community, family, and responsibility, so these qualities are amplified exponentially.  Supportive 6 uses the power of love to heal, and 33’s duty is to demonstrate how a little patience, compassion, and selflessness go a long way. 33 transcends domestic relations and blood bonds to foster universal familiarity. Do you think there’s any coincidence that Jesus Christ lived to be 33?

2013 = 6 [#StarsAndSymbols]

Every year has a unique vibration. Numerology is a helpful way to characterize those vibrations. If you add each digit of 2013, what do you get? 6! That means 2013 is a 6-year. For more insight, you must develop a greater understanding of the number 6.

6 is the number of service. Duty and responsibility come into focus when dealing with 6 energy. 6 is the most balanced and harmonious of all numbers. Family-oriented 6 is caring, loving, and nurturing. 6 heals what hurts.

I am almost done training at The Spa. Soon I will find out if they want to keep me or not. The prospect of a full-time job is overwhelming at times, but overall I am enjoying myself. I’ve wanted to work at a spa work a while now. I love the tranquil, relaxing environment (I’m also looking forward to discounted massages). Appropriately, the building number is 330. 3+3+0=6.

I am where I need to be.
