trine to get along! [#StarsAndSymbols]

In a world where so many feel misunderstood, how great is it to be involved with someone who knows where you’re coming from? In astrology, the people who share the same dominant element as you [fire, earth, air, or water] are most likely to have compatible energetic compositions.

For example, if you identify as an Aquarius, you are inclined to play well with Gemini and Libra, for these are the 3 signs that comprise the “air” element in astrology. In other words, signs of the same element are relatively easy matches because their essential qualities are most familiar to each other. The relationship between 2 signs of the same element is called a trine [tri = 3… each element is comprised of 3 signs].

FYI – There is also a relationship – or aspect as we call them in astrology – called a sextile, where the element of one sign harmonizes with a sign of a similar, albeit different  element [fire/air, earth/water]. We will not be focusing on the sextile aspect for the purpose of this post, as we will be examining the pros and cons of the trine aspect [and later on… the aspect known as the conjunction].

Let’s get started, shall we?

Good help can be hard to find, but today it’s a little easier and a lot closer. Reach out in your immediate environment because The Ones who are qualified to provide assistance are more than willing to receive you at this time. It may be more tough love than coddling, but the operative word is love, so try not to be so touchy and take what you can get. Oh, and just in case you “forgot”, call your mom to see how’s she’s doing.

You have the opportunity to make a big move or initiate a project you’ve been dreaming about. Make sure that you are clear before starting anything, as uncertainty or vagueness of any kind will have an adverse affect on your results down the line, and that would be a waste of this energy. ugly situations/beautiful solutions: aries full moon/lunar eclipse 2014 [#StarsAndSymbols]

Full Moon in Aries
October 8, 2014
06:51 AM EST

during libra season, when the sun is transiting the sign of the scales, we are fueled by collaboration. the easiest, most desirable way to shine is when working in unison with someone who is deemed equal, such as a friend, a lover, or a business associate. when the comfort-seeking moon inevitably transits libra’s opposite sign, aries, it becomes a bit of an emotional challenge to honor impulsive individuality without breaking a social rule or two, as the ego at its core is often more primitive and impatient than refined…

projection:i’m a good person who is offended that my charming grace is neither appreciated nor reciprocated. i’d rather go solo than have to deal with the nastiness and strife that is incited, but i can’t just give up like that. if only i could convey to them how unfairly they treat me, i know they would finally hold me in the high esteem i deserve.

swami says:

– relationships serve to mirror your internal state back to you objectively, but lately what you see triggers an irrationally violent response…

– there is a difference between a healthy partnership and codependency, and a fragile identity/ego will eventually alienate others…

– although both parties are supposed to bring something to the table, some unions are more one-sided than mutual…

go there, but don’t stay: 8/3/14 [#MyBestWeek]

Screen shot 2014-01-13 at 3.46.03 AM

one of the most gut-wrenching feelings is to desire something or someone so fervently only to have it be snatched away in plain sight. there is little we can do to overcome that anguish, so our only choice is to live with it, to feel it completely. cry if need be. it is important for us to go there, but it would be a mistake to stay. self-destruction and downward spirals are the results of festering sentiment that has found no outlet or expression. if we have it, we have to do something with it, or else it will do something to us.

the definition dictates: 7/27/14 [#MyBestWeek]

being conservative in the ways we choose to expend personal energy is the least we can do to help ourselves in the long run. it is all too easy to burn out due to the immature, unnecessary expenditure of fuel. we don’t have to pump the brakes, but we would definitely benefit from slowing down every now and then. there is nothing wrong with alternating intervals of acceleration, especially when the goal is to increase stamina and sustain our efforts over a long period of time. as inclined as we may be to charge full speed ahead, periods of rest are necessary if we want to recover from the damage of reckless urgency and make any substantial progress.

the roots & the tree: capricorn full moon [#StarsAndSymbols]

one of the great things about roots is how they provide the tree with the support necessary to uphold its composure as it climbs great heights. if there is no foundation, there is no growth. that said, the fullest way for the tree to honor its roots is to challenge itself to reach higher than it ever has. after all, isn’t that the purpose of planting seeds in the first place?

with the sun in cancer, we are focused on the acknowledgment of the deepest, most familiar facets of our personhood. to nourish and protect the life force within is the instinct that keeps each species going from generation to generation. It may not always make rational sense, but thanks to intuition and the assortment of other gifts stored away in our ancestral goodie bags, we know what we have to do at any given moment to preserve this fragile existence. to sustain our lineage is encoded in our dna.

before we get too comfortable, we must remember that no matter how well acclimatized we are, every season presents its challenges. without the occasional obstacle, the experience of life would be too subjective to sustain the dynamism of authentic expression in all its completeness. that is where the full moon in capricorn, which opposes the cancer sun, comes into play. we are feeling the subconscious call to endeavor toward the practical attainment of worldly accomplishment. our survival skills mean little if we do not at some point assume responsibility for the successful advancement of the family name beyond the home and into the stratosphere of society. the tangible achievements we need to satisfy this obscure hunger are the products of structure, goals, and concentrated motivation.

let’s trip: sagittarius full moon/friday the 13th [#StarsAndSymbols]

Friends are good for a great variety of benefits. Many of mine inspire me to be better, bolder, and to grow (it’s in my astrology). In fact, the more I am inspired, the more likely we are to experience a relationship of longevity, as opposed to the brief encounters I have notched in bedposts past. I am often inspired to travel beyond the limitations that normally keep me confined, whether these limits are mental, emotional, spiritual, or physical. As I write this I am in the process of packing (does thinking about packing count as packing?) for my second vacation this year.

I booked my ticket at the last-minute. Part of me thought it would be best not to go, considering I was just got back from New Orleans this past May. I have a full-time position at a high-end retail store in a casino. My friend invited me right when we got back home from our last trip, but “it wouldn’t be responsible for me to go.” That’s what I thought. But alas, something inside me loves to go places I’ve never been, and it’s damn near impossible to restrain. “Fuck it,” I said without opening my mouth as I clicked to confirm my flight. “If liberation is my intention, then I have to be free to roam.”

Freedom

I depart on the afternoon of Friday, the 13th of 2014, just hours after the astronomically exact the full moon in Sagittarius. A former coworker and fellow occultist informed me that this is the last Friday the 13th full moon until 2049, and in her words, “Vegas will be fuuuun that nite.” I believe her. As if full moons weren’t already notorious enough, the superstition of Friday the 13th adds an extra dose of Anything Can Happen.

As always, full moons happen once every 30 or so days [month = moon cycle] when the moon opposes the sun in the sky, each one in the same degree of opposite signs. This full moon is in Sagittarius, opposite the sun in Gemini. Oppositions are considered difficult aspects in astrology. They represent potential separation, confrontation, and challenge. Under the opposition of the full moon, it’s like we’re in an intense game of tug of war, being pulled back and forth by two equally strong competitors. In order to express ourselves as individuals [sun] we risk our emotional security [moon], as these two planets are as far away from each other as possible, while us earthlings are in the middle, trying our best to not to go insane [lunatic = luna = moon].

north node/saturn/venus conjunct [#StarsAndSymbols]

A field of fragrant flowers is unforgiven by me at the offensive sight of a tiny fruit fly. A single stray note slaughters the sonic sweetness of the most sophisticated symphony. A night of noteworthy novelty means nothing if even one nuance goes neglected.

Sometimes I let the smallest things get under my skin.

Earlier in the week, I let something someone said get to me. My mom is an employee of NJ Transit, so I occasionally ride the bus to work for free, like this past Sunday. As I was catching up with the bus operator, a family friend, the topic of school came up as it usually does. When asking about my younger sister’s senior year of high school and impending undergraduate adventure, she expressed her strong suggestion for my sister to attend a state school to avoid making “the same mistake” I made. The same mistake.

tumblr_mfu3j3Y5tO1rx8xito1_500

One man’s mistake is another man’s destiny. The difference depends on one’s capacity to create solutions from perceived problems. It’s no secret that I’ve put myself in some situations that were more difficult than necessary, but I don’t believe them to be “mistakes”, because I am still here and I am still learning lessons. Everything happens for a reason as far as I am concerned, and as long as it is happening to me, I’m the only one who has the right to determine whether or not it is a mistake – whatever it is.

uranus/pluto square [astroloco]

URANUS SQUARE PLUTO
(May 20, 2013 @ 6 PM)

A rude awakening or a conscious evolution? This is the 3rd Uranus/Pluto square of 7 [2012-2015], and we are transcending with each trigger. Release whatever is keeping you vibrating at a low frequency in order to connect to your highest self.

This square [challenging aspect] in particular is exact at 11 degrees Aries [Uranus] and Capricorn [Pluto]. If you remember our numerology lesson, 11 is a master number with a intuitively spiritual vibration. Some people make a wish when they see 11:11, and whether or not they know it, seeing this number sequences signifies a shift in consciousness. It is no coincidence that these planets are squaring each other in 11 degrees of their respective signs. We are being upgraded.

Although the square is the main attraction, there are other, more favorable aspects involved. Uranus in Aries is sextile Mercury and Venus in Gemini. The newfound self-awareness  that we are experiencing [Uranus in Aries] is shifting the way we think and communicate [Mercury], as well as what we appreciate and value in our exchanges with other people [Venus]. Pluto in Capricorn is sextile Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. The powerful occult understanding of shadowy societal structures that we are unearthing [Pluto in Capricorn] is transforming our perception of reality [Saturn] and fantasy [Neptune]. Despite the frightening amount of commotion this square is causing, it is making some exciting (and necessary) aspects.

When we are conscious of this energy and the symbolic planetary relationships, it is easy to see we are evolving. We can embrace this energy by paying attention to where the overwhelming feeling of frustration manifests in our lives, because that is where this square is being played out. To varying degrees, we are all being deprogrammed and reprogrammed to live in alignment with our truest selves. It seems hard, as change usually is, but it doesn’t have to be.

It’s easy to be pushed when we’re standing still, so why not make the first move? This is a new age! All you have to do is turn the page.
