Good companions are a god-send. Communicate your appreciative sentiments. Look out for them like the look out for you, because there are lot of people out there who suck.

If there’s a gathering, go! You are likely to encounter someone with a fresh perspective that could totally shift your orientation. Bouncing ideas could lead to collaborative experimentation, materialization of musings, or just a quick connection.

a compassionate approach [#FreeWrite]

this is a follow-up or addendum of sorts to my previous My Best Week post, “the alchemist“…

in order to be thorough in the process of exposing self-sabotaging behavioral compulsions, it is valuable for one to explore them without shame, but instead with genuine, nonjudgmental curiosity. denial of these urges is not as effective ultimately as it would be to let them happen as they do. if we are strong enough to take an objective assessment after all is said and done, with a forgiving approach rather than one of condemnation, we can determine the pros and cons of our potentially destructive tendencies in an efficient way that will surely help to redirect that same energy to be used as fuel for our inherent creativity. beyond the brink: 5/25/14 [#MyBestWeek]

Screen shot 2014-01-13 at 3.46.03 AM

A new opportunity for us to shine in the public eye has presented itself. This isn’t just any old opportunity though, this is karmic, and this is a major moment that we will look back on as a turning point or a big break in regards to career. The momentousness keeps us perpetually excited, if not a bit high-strung. The key is to make the most of this energy by visualizing the big picture and working toward its actualization. The target for which we are aiming this week will have a long-term effect, so it is important that we have a solid objective upon which to build, as well as the expansiveness to shoot for the stars.

my best week: 3/2/14 [#StarsAndSymbols]

Screen shot 2014-01-13 at 3.46.03 AM

no matter how grown we may be or how adult we become, life is an eternal elementary school. there is always something new to learn. mercury, personified as the messenger god hermes in greek mythology, is the fastest moving planet in our solar system, as well as an astrological representation of our intellectual swiftness. the lower mind is mercury [in correspondence with the 3rd House], the function of which is to accumulate information in order to learn the basics of any and every subject. here, there, and everywhere, mercury represents the back and forth of short distance travel, and the quick connections we make as we move about the neighborhood. learning goes hand in hand with teaching, so it is helpful to articulate skillfully if we expect the messages we send to be successfully received.

the classroom was not the only place that educated us. recess is where we studied the art of play and imagination. the inner child of the zodiac, leo is fulfilled by fun and games. pushing the boundaries of the creative will is the way that this sign shines and stands out from the crowd as a special being. because a performer can’t draw inspiration from an empty house, leo needs an audience that will shower it with attention and admiration, but we must first fall in love with our own glow before we can radiate the warmth of a true star. the world doesn’t revolve around an unsure sun, so why not live as gloriously as possible? it feels fabulous to be center stage, but sharing the spotlight is always appreciated. after all, everyone is entitled to the occasional VIP treatment. let’s not act like we never learned how to take turns.

cardinal grand cross: pretty hurts [#StarsAndSymbols]

although the cardinal grand cross i briefly touched upon in a previous post isn’t astronomically exact at this current moment (and it won’t be again until april), this is still a trying time for the cardinal signs [aries, cancer, libra, capricorn]. the cardinal signs are the ones that initiate their respective seasons [spring, summer, fall, winter], so naturally they are always ready for action. with the challenging energy of the squares and oppositions that comprise that grand cross, people born under these signs are taking the ultimate test of patience. will they pass?

hourglass

a brief overview of aspects:

a square is a tense 90 degree angle between 2 planets in space. it is an astrological aspect that represents an intense inner conflict. this stress is said to manifest itself external, in the form of setbacks, problems, and other frustrating situations.

an opposition is a 180 degree angle, and this inner conflict is often played out in relationships, so that what we suppress and fail to integrate in ourselves is projected onto our partners. with oppositions, we feel like people (instead of things) are in our way, which is what differentiates it from the square.

the square and the opposition are considered to be the most difficult aspect that planets can make with each other. the cardinal grand cross is a configuration of 2 intersecting oppositions [Uranus in Aries v. Mars in Libra, Jupiter in Cancer v. Pluto in Capricorn] that form the shape of a cross, aka 4 squares.

as of april 22-23, we will experience another cardinal grand cross, this time exact with planets at 13 degrees of each of the 4 cardinal signs [uranus in aries, jupiter in cancer, mars in libra, pluto in capricorn]. this no doubt symbolizes some sort of major, life-defining force that is coming to fruition. if you remember my post on the number 13, you already have some idea of the energy at work here.

the big (quick) review: jupiter in gemini [astroloco]

The past year has seen us verbalizing our beliefs. Our abundant curiosity has taken us on many journeys. We have learned many meaningful lessons, and have been more than excited to share what we have learned with the people in our social sphere. Question is, are we practicing what we’ve preached, or are we opting instead for the doctrine of duality?

We have taken in so much with Jupiter in Gemini that I think it would be worthwhile to review all the discoveries we have made during this transit. Studies have been expanded, faith has been tested by unpredictable circumstances, and our networks have grown exponentially. As Jupiter approaches the final degree of Gemini, we must find a moment to process the stimulating variety of wisdom we have happened upon.

learning the same thing twice: full moon/lunar eclipse in sagittarius [astroloco]

One thing that college taught me is that everyone has their own way of learning, on their own time. My process was very different than my classmates. I discovered that no matter how much I was programmed within the constraints of the classroom, I actually had to experience these lessons for myself in real life. Even if I failed an exam or BS’d my way through an entire course, it was not the end of the world, because I knew for a fact that I would get it when I was supposed to get it. For many years I would bust my ass to make the grade, until I finally decided to detach myself from the stiflingly rigid expectations of the American school system. Time, especially linear, is no longer a factor in my education.

Space is also an education non-factor for me. A classroom is anywhere in which we are conscious enough to teach and be taught. Wisdom is not exclusive to mountaintops and Mongolian monasteries. Wanderlust long distance journeys are great, but who says we have to run to the other end of earth to find what we are seeking? Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the stimulating conversations we have with the strangers we meet down the street at the market.

roadends

For the past couple weeks, I have been driving an hour away to the nearest Whole Foods. I love the occasional day trip, but – between gas money and actually buying a week or two’s worth of groceries –  this was way too expensive to become a routine. Yesterday was my day off, and I decided to see what the regular grocery stores in my area had to offer. To my surprise, I found a lot of my favorite brands right in my local ShopRite. The selection, of course, is not extensive as the healthier grocery chains, but it is there for those of us who are looking to align our eating habits with the higher consciousness of the new paradigm. It’s a process, but it is happening.

All of our studies are coming to light under this Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius. The lessons we have learned, regardless of when and where, have everything to do with who we are and what we believe to be true. I am thankful for all of my experiences, because they are the adventures that have helped me discover myself, even when I felt lost.

Once upon a time, I was supposed to graduate yesterday. Although I didn’t step across the stage at Lincoln Center with the rest of the Class of ’13, I too survived this semester. My phantom leg has finally been severed after 3 months of limping, and I made it through the operation. Instead of trying to walk the way I used to, I am embracing my new gait, because there is no point in learning the same thing twice.

FULL MOON/LUNAR ECLIPSE in SAGITTARIUS
(May 25, 2013 @ 12:26 AM EST)

Illumination:
Education, belief, joy of experience

Reflection:
Are you spreading yourself too thin? Do you think your life lacks substance? Is your intellect being challenged as superficial or unfounded? Have you been sensationalizing the truth to keep yourself entertained?

Solution:
Stimulate the social sphere of your immediate environment by cleverly expressing the truth as you know it and opening your mind to the meaningfully expansive wisdom of other people’s perceptions
